Warty wireless wg511t dies

Warty on a Dell Inspiron 4000 with a Netgear WG511T was working for 5
weeks, but has suddenly failed - no signal. I haven't changed any
configuration.

ifconfig produces normal-looking output, ie, ath0 is showing the correct
static ip and everything else looks fine. The router (also Netgear)
appears to be working OK, although this is the only wireless card I have
so I can't be sure. I've rebooted the router, just in case. The ethernet
output from the router is fine.

Since starting to write this, I've gone to another location, far from my
router, and now I'm getting a signal! Obviously from somebody else. How
can I check whether it's the router or the card?

The two lights on the pcmcia card blink alternatively.

The only other thing I can think of is that the computer was left on for
about 4 days with the card in, and it got pretty hot. Do these cards
"cook"? I've previously left this machine running for 3 weeks without any
issues, but that was before I set up the wireless.

Any cluesticks would be greatly appreciated, especially since I've been
telling everyone at work how great this Ubuntu is and that they should
all get it instead of windows :-)

Thanks...

David.
