How are you getting onto the router/modem? Using an IP address??

If so, it's probably /etc/resolv.conf ... you need to have some routing 
information in there... take a look, see what's in there...

On mine, it's as follows...

search home
nameserver 999.999.999.999

...where 999.999.999.999 is the address of your wireless router/modem...
