I just installed Ubuntu 4.10 in my system.
before that I was connecting to the Internet via
pc-card
well the manufacture (netgear - wg511 model) does not
support linux OS, so no help there.
I new at this and ii don't know how to make it work,
in their web site (netgear) they said to look for a
driver.0 (rtl8139.o). I did found a rtl8169.o in the
"...lib/modules/2.6.83-386/kernel/net/drivers"

they mention I can use "linuxconf" to set up the card,
or
"use "modprobe rtl8139" and "ifconfig up eth0" to load
module. If your driver load properly, your
"/etc/conf.modules" should include line of "alias eth0
rtl8139". I don't know what they are talking about.

So, I even try downloading souce code, but i was
unable to compile.

the instructions were in this site:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/inquira/default.asp?ui_mode=answer&prior_transaction_id=45092&action_code=5&highlight_info=16777797,8,26&turl=http%3A%2F%2Fkbserver.netgear.com%2Fkb_web_files%2Fn100505.asp&answer_id=3079186#__highlight

My computer does not have floppy drive, only the
cd-rom drive. if it helps is a sony vaio "PCV-LX800"

Other than that I like the new OS, wow linux rocks...

Miguel
