Hi all,
Ubuntu newbie convert here, linux since Dad gave me SuSE 6.4.
I hope to save folks the 6-8 hours of trouble and problems that I just
spent trying to get pictures from my nikon coolpix 2000 (nikon digital
camera e2000) in ptp mode via usb cable.
Thanks to all those posts that gave various hints and insights to get
me here.
On the camera: Turn it off. Unplug it from usb cable. Turn it on,
push menu, scroll down to setup menu, push right arrow, scroll down to
usb (below language), push right arrow, scroll up to ptp, push right
arrow, push menu to exit, turn off camera. Plug it into usb cable
connected to computer.
Here's some computer system info. I'm using ubuntu warty warthog 4.10.
I've probably done a lot of repository changes and synaptic and/or
apt-get installs of many packages that may or may not be relevant to
cameras (do we need to specify that cameras are "digital" here? :^) ).
Here is some relevant state of my machine outputs. Let me know if I
forgot something or snipped over-zealously:

Good luck!
