trouble reading from dvd

I have a bunch of movies burned on a dvd that I want to watch. It's no 
problem viewing them under windows. But under linux, I'm having trouble. 
When I put the dvd in the drive, nautilus automatically opened showing 
the contents. Each movie has type 'unknown type, and their sizes are all 
'...' I can't watch any of them. Does anyone know what I might be doing 
wrong?
