mplayer on Warty anybody?

I have managed to install and use mplayer on Warty.  I'm away from the Ubuntu
machine at the moment, but if I recall correctly it was necessary to select a
particular version of mplayer from outside the normal repositories rather 
than the default.

I think that the problem is that the commonly available mplayer uses later 
dependencies
than Warty was compiled with, we need a slightly older version to run on Warty.

Hope this helps.  If you still have problems later, do email me (on or off 
list) and I'll
open up synaptic and find out exactly which version I have and where it was 
from.

PS  It does a good job of playing straight movies, but can't handle the 
more sophisticated
menus etc that are put on some DVDs.  Also, on my limited hardware (PIII 
600MHz and a
very old DVD rom with limited DMA support) I had to allow it to drop frames 
to keep sound
and vision in sync.  But that's an issue with my hardware ;-)
