Problem with gnome-terminal

After some update recently, my gnome-terminal has been exhibiting some
odd behaviour.

This is mainly highlighted by the disfunction of my backspace key.

I looked at the keyboard shortcuts menu, and indeed my backspace has
been assigned to 'Paste'.

I know I can tweak it all and fix things, but does anyone know why the
fault arose? Has something been changed?
