firefox / thunderbird interaction

I'm having a wee bit of trouble with firefox and thunderbird. The 
problem occurs when I click File->Send_Link from within Firefox. It 
should open an email compose window, but on my system it brings up a 
window asking me to choose a profile to use. When I try to use the 
default profile, it says it's already in use. I know I can create 
another profile, but that's not really an ideal solution. Any ideas?
