hibernate/sleep function in hoary

2 questions...
1)  I don't seem to have a "~/.gnomerc" file.  Is it supposed to be 
there by default?  Or do I have to create one?
2)  Does the sleep script also work in Warty?  If not, is there another 
way to do a hibernate like that?
