Okay, here is the result of "id" :

vincent at Lotus-Esprit:~ $ id
uid=1000(vincent) gid=1000(vincent)
groupes=4(adm),20(dialout),24(cdrom),25(floppy),29(audio),44(video),103(plugdev),107(lpadmin),108(scanner),1000(vincent)

uid is the same as gid it seems... so it should work ? But it doesn't...
so it's bad news I guess... :o(
