VMware : Win 95 install failed

I created a win95 virtual machine.

My win 95 install CD is not bootable. So I booted from an old Win98
"rescue" floppy disk with CD-ROM support, that worked, I could access
the CD drive and start the "install" executable on the CD.
but it fails very quickly, saying something like :

"Can't create a temp directory, make sure you have a DOS partition".

Something like that. Any clue ? Anyone managed to install Win 95 ?

I need Win 95 to run an old 95 game, which doesn't work in Win XP.
