VMware : can't boot the CD !

Okay, so VMware now starts. I changed the script as per the wiki page,
but the result was that VMware would not start anymore. So I had to run
the configuration script again.
Anyway. I created a virtual machine for Windows XP. I put my Win XP
install CD in the drive, then started the virtual machine, but I get an
error message saying that it didn't find any bootable CD or floppy !
I don't understand, the CD drive seems recognized by VMware (it's listed
in the available peripherals for the virtual machine, along with USB and
floppy etc.
The WinXP Cd itself works fine, Nautilus detected it as soon as I
inserted it in the drive, mounted it etc.
I thought maybe this was interfering somehow with VMware, so I unmounted
the CD drive in a terminal, then restarted VMware, but it didn't change
a thing :o(
Any idea ??
