Many thanks to all who have replied to my query regarding the security
aspect of not having a root password with Ubuntu.
And I have not had to put my flameproof jacket on :)
I now understand the reasons behind this decision.
I had got the wrong impression and thought that any user would
automatically get access to "root".
It was a general query, as there are no password problems here at home.
I am the only one who uses the computer; my wife has never used it and
has no interest in doing so.
As a newcomer to Ubuntu, but not to Linux, I have found that making a
hard copy of the Unofficial Starter Guide is a *must*. It has helped me
so much in getting to know Ubuntu.
Many thanks again.
Cheers
Keith
