I am running Ubuntu on my Acer Aspire 1710 (I know its not exactly the same).

The only problems I have are:
1, If I try and run the official nVidia drivers it does not detect the refresh
rates correctly.
2, The in-built wireless card is a broadcom chipset and therefore needs
ndiswrapper to make it work. However the TravelMate series is Intel centrino so
I am not sure if it has a different wireless card in?

Other than that it all works great.
