Software KVM application?

Depending on the type of machine:
Windows:
rdesktop -a 16 -f hostname
use CTRL+ALT ENTER to switch back this uses the same display as your desktop
Linux:
X -query hostname :1
this throws a network computer up on you 2 X terminal accessed usually 
with CTRL+ALT+F8
