Well,
to make the story short, I got the Amilo L1300 sleep mode back to work,
by a single line. :)
/etc/default/acpi-support:
ACPI_SLEEP=true
also, ACPI_SLEEP_MODE=mem but that seems to be so already in Hoary
(needed editing in Warty).
Hopefully, this message is helpful for some other soul, I will be
putting this info on the wiki, too.
