Why orinoco driver for pcmcia card with prism 2.5 chip?

Yes, it works, but not very well.

However, what certainly does not work with the orinoco driver
in warty is 'scanning'. And I can't put the card into 'Monitor'
mode so "kismet" does not work.

All these things work perfectly in the latest Knoppix!
(with the orinoco.cs driver and the 2.6.9 kernel).

So, either the latest version of the orinco driver, or a patched
version of the latest orinoco driver should be included in Hoary.

I have no experience with the latest 'prism2' or 'hostap' drivers.
These should also work with cards with INTERSIL prism2(2.5,3) chips.
I would very much like to see a comparison of these 3 solutions.

I have not got around to trying to compile anything myself yet,
and I would prefer not having to do that.
