Lucent LT (win)modem, 2.6 (.10) kernel?

Is anyone running a Lucent ltmodem with Hoary and a 2.6.10 kernel?

I've seen some info (and binaries) for using it with a specific 2.6.8 
kernel (and I think(?) this must match exactly). On this laptop, sure 
would be great to find info or a how-to for this. Now when I'm away 
from my network, have to boot the Mepis live CD to use the modem.

There was a posting on ubuntuforums a month ago by daniel stone about 
perhaps getting this into linux-restricted-modules...
