Cannot install ubuntu on Dell machine

This is not working for my Dell Inspiron 700m. I don't have these clock
problems when I first boot after the install, but I do have problems
with the initial package configuration. Specifically, the system will
repeatedly hang on setting up libgsm1 or libpt-1.6.3. I have tried the
noapic, nolapic fix and it hasn't helped. Any other ideas?
