Man, that is one huuuuuuge drive :D
I'm going to recommend a third option, it might be easier for you to go
down this route.
I've got a western digital 120GB. I had three windows partitions of
roughly equal size. The third partition had nothing on it. I deleted
that partition with QTparted. It is graphical and at the time I needed
the comfort. It's inluded in Knoppix for certain, and possibly other
live distributions. As I was saying, I wiped the third partition and
created new linux partitions from the empty space. If you can get ahold
of a knoppix disc, qtparted might be easier for you towork with.
Now as to size. Your C drive is waaaaaay to big. The more you put on
your windows drive, the higher your chance of something going fubar.
When you reinstall windows you might end up losing a lot of valuable
info on that C drive - unless you're good at using linux for recovery.
I would put all extras (games, mp3s, docs, etc) on D and keep your C
drive just for the system.
I would recommend wiping your drive and fully repartitioning.
Windows-
c: 20Gb
d 90Gb
Linux -
hda6 - linux swap - 1Gb
It's a bit much considering your memory, but space isn't a problem in
your case.
hda7-hda9 - I'd do it just like you've described it.
Granted, wiping your drive is never fun. But I think if you do it now
you'll be better off in the long run. Just an opinion, Good luck.
