quake2 on ubuntu

i too got the same errors for sum time, but i got it working by coping
the pak0.pak into the ~/.quake2/baseq2 folder. ran..then it created the
config file..and then i set snddriver to "sdl". now everything works
beautiful! and on a darn 32M card.
