USB problem: ehci_hcd failing

I'm running warty on my P4P880-SE mobo, and am having problems with
getting it to work with my ipod. The weird thing is that it worked just
fine a day or two ago, but now when I plug my ipod in, nothing
happens... nothing in dmesg, nothing in syslog, and no indication on
the actual ipod that it has detected being connected.
On further investigation, I found this in dmesg:
ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: Intel Corp. 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB2 EHCI
Controller
ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: BIOS handoff failed (104, 1010001)
ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: can't reset
ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: init 0000:00:1d.7 fail, -95
ehci_hcd: probe of 0000:00:1d.7 failed with error -95
my USB mouse still works, and a recently installed USB printer works
fine as well... but I'm wondering if installing the printer is what
messed up my USB, because they happened at about the same time. I've
deleted the printer using the GUI, but the problem persists. I've also
tried rebooting the computer with the printer unattached, and swapping
which USB port the ipod goes in... nothing seems to make any
difference.
In doing some research, I came across this
(http://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2004/12/msg00461.html), which
seems to address the issue, but it refers to a patch, and some code,
which I don't know how to apply. Has anyone else had this problem, or
does anyone have any idea what I should do next, to try and fix this?
Thanks,
Patrick
