Evolution and SMTP

If it is not a typo in your email-address it could be an authentication
problem.
SMTP servers doesn't accept mail relaying to non-local addresses if they
are configured right. (although there should be another server message)
Have you tried to receive mail from your mailbox first and then send
the mail?
I think Thunderbird does this by itself (pop-before-smtp) and maybe
Evolution has an option to switch the behavior, but I know Evolution
only by name.
