I wasn't having any problems downloading from Sourceforge.net,
just wouldn't unpack and configure. "No Cabinet available" or similar
message. Then any other package I tried to install would not unpack 
/configure,
kept going back to Sourceforge and re-downloading msttcorefonts.
Did  sudo dpkg --configure -a  and everything that had not unpacked and 
configured
did so.
