vobcopy in Breezy/Gnome - first time I've ever used it - made perfect
copy of a 4.0GB DVD5 music video (Free-All Regions) today in under
twenty minutes on a HP notebook. Yes, I know the thread's stale but
this may help other newbies too.
vobcopy ignored my attempt to write output to an external FireWire
Seagate disk and dumped a 2.0GB or smaller *1-1.VOB then a *1-2.VOB
chunk onto my measly internal notebook IDE drive 8.0GB partition. In
terminal I'd typed
Code:
--------------------
vobcopy /media/cdrom1 /media/SEAGATE
--------------------
which vobcopy seemed to interpret as input path from /dev/scd0
(external USB 2.0 Plextor DVD Recorder) so wonder if I'd used output to
/dev/sdb1 (vfat/FAT32, first primary partition on external disk) perhaps
it would have been more successful to avoid a subsequent copy IDE to
external drive.
Perhaps someone in the forum can help wih the correct vobcopy command
layout (source, destination) as man doesn't help at all.
Final question, now I've got two isolated VOB files on a hard drive
what can I do with them, for example how do I burn them in an image
file? Of course wine/DVD Shrink says missing VIDEO_TS.IFO so that's no
good, then K3b throws a similar message if try to burn an image as a
new DVD Project with just two VOBs. Feel a bit lost having always run
DVD Decrypter/DVD Shrink in Windows with no problem, and I want to
master this in Linux.
