I agree with you but also can see how the Debian mailing list can seem
intimidating to some, what  with their curt but informative answers.
When you are on the side of the road with a dead car it's somewhat
irksome for someone to drive by and shout, "try the battery hose or the
fuel cable,"  Even if they are right (unlikely in my scenario) it will
bother you.
That's the Debian community.
