octaviz package installation

Hi,

I am pretty new to ubuntu/breezy and might stay a little longer. It
seems to be a good alternative between archlinux and gentoo
:-)
Unfortunately, not every package I need is included, but
there are way more than in archlinux and compared to gentoo
I don't need to compile everything...

Right now, I am looking to install octaviz, which is a
visualization system for Octave. I found the package in the
dapper repositorz, but just build for a powerpc
architecture.

Due to dependence problems and my different architecture
i386 I could not install it out of the box (libvtk4-dev (>=
4.4.2-8) was needed), so I build it from deb-source. For
that I changed the mentioned dependency in the control file
to 4.4.2-6. I build the package with 'dpkg-buildpackage'
and installed it with 'dpkg -i package.deb'. Everything went
fine, but when I start 'octave' and try to run the
octaviz-demo with 'test_pars' octave crashes.

Maybe, somebody has an idea!?

Greetings, Fabian
