Is Ubuntu's (actually, Linux's) problem with nVidia graphics resolved?

Hi,

It's near a year that I have decided to install Ubuntu on my AMD64 PC.
However as nVidia drivers are problematic I have not been able to do
so. And I'm not the only one experiencing this porblem. Other people
have also said that they are experiencing the exact same problem (see
here for more info: http://my.opera.com/behrangsa/blog/show.dml/45487)

I just wanted to know if the problem with nVidia drivers are finally
solved and if I can rip Windows off of my HDD and finally install
Ubuntu afresh.

Just FYI, I experienced the exact same problem with SuSe Eval edition
10 as well. So this is not a problem with Ubuntu but with nVidia (or
maybe Firefox?).

Regards,
Behi
