Kernel-sources Linux-headers and so on : which one for what purpose ?

Hello to all,
Once upon a time was a Ubuntu Breezy on a AMD Athlon processor. On this
one machine I'm happy to have, a k7 kernel:
*************
joyce at papillon:~$ uname -r
2.6.12-10-k7
joyce at papillon:~$
*************
and I would like to install KQemu with the new 0.8 Qemu version, but
last trial, a few weeks ago, was unsuccessful, for obscure reasons.
The KQemu doc talks about installing kernel-source, and the available
sources do not have right the same number as the actual kernel present
on the machine: then is it impossible to get the KQemu module fonction ?
http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/kqemu-doc.html
1) Install the kernel-source-xxx package
2) cd /usr/src/linux-xxx
3) make distclean
(I installed the most recent version I could find, the other time, but
although I did a very careful compilation, nothing went the right way).
Thanks for help, J.Markoll.
