[Breezy] New kernel and update Grub makes kernel panic

Hello to all,
It's the third time, since the last kernel updates, that Grub goes into
panic when automatically updating, and I need fixing the menu.lst by hand.

I wanted to point it out (didn't see any thread about that on the list).
Here is what it looks like:

************

Paramétrage de linux-image-2.6.12-10-k7 (2.6.12-10.25) ...,

Not touching initrd symlinks since we are being reinstalled (2.6.12-10.24),

Not updating image symbolic links since we are being updated (2.6.12-10.24),

Searching for GRUB installation directory ...

found: /boot/grub .,Testing for an existing GRUB menu.list file...
found: /boot/grub/menu.lst .,Searching for splash image... none found,
skipping...,

Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-10-k7,

Found kernel: /boot/memtest86+.bin,Updating /boot/grub/menu.lst ... done,

************

and the /boot/grub/menu.lst now:

************
title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.12-10-k7,
root (hd0,6)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-10-k7 root=/dev/hda8 ro quiet splash,initrd

/boot/initrd.img-2.6.12-10-k7
savedefault
boot

title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.12-10-k7 (recovery mode)
root (hd0,6),
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-10-k7 root=/dev/hda8 ro single,initrd
    /boot/initrd.img-2.6.12-10-k7,boot
title Ubuntu
memtest86+
root

(hd0,6),kernel
/boot/memtest86+.bin
boot

****************
Obviously, '(hd0,6)' does not go along well with 'root=/dev/hda8' and if
I rebooted with that one menu.lst I would encounter a kernel panic at
next boot, which is what happened last time I upgraded kernel.
(In my partition table, root is hda7 and not hda8)

For a bug report: to Grub, to Ubuntu ? how to treat the question ?
Thanks and best Greetings, Joyce Markoll.
