Ubuntu 5.10 minumum requirements

I don't know why live CD failed, but I run Ubuntu on an assortment of 
machines from 350mhz/128mb upwards. I can't imagine your sister's machine 
has too little horsepower. Equally, the only hardware detection problem 
I've had so far was one winmodem.
