Hi, I'm writing this to you on a Dell Dim 8400 w/ Breezy Badger
installed (and prior to this Hoary). (PIV w/ HT 3.2GHz, Intel 925
chipset, 2 SATA 80GB drives, not in any RAID configuration though I
have the software installed).
Couple of things -> it installs w/out a problem w/ Breezy but you
should run the LiveCD 1st-> if that works well you should be golden.
The 3 partitions you find on your computer ->
1 - a small utility partition (disk checking, etc...)
2 - your main XP partition
3 - a Norton Ghost image of your system on the day you bought it.
#3 - if you hit CTRL+F11 while booting and during the POST when you see
a blue bar at the top of your screen that has www.dell.com in it...then
you will boot into this Ghost partition and be given the option to
restore your PC to the day you bought it...I've done it...it's exactly
the same as the image replaces your current config. IMPORTANT - if you
overwrite the current MBR w/ any other MBR (from Ubuntu or a fresh
install of XP from XP's installation disk) you will never again be able
to access that partition. The only thing you can do w/ it is to delete
it and reclaim the space... I tried at length and had several
discussions w/ Dell Support about it.
