Ubuntu is under attack

Personally I don't see the big problem (as I'm mostly just an end
user) I don't think I've ever wanted to see these e-mails that are so
critical, but what about writing a small app that takes those
"e-mails" and dumps them into a log file that can be read/cleared
easily from the system -> administration menu?
Then it's likely to be _very_ small and _very_ simple thus fixing both
supposed issue's with leaving out an MTA _and_ giving users somewhere
to look when troubleshooting (or giving support givers an easy place
to send users when offering support).
If the "power users" want a full blown MTA then good on them and they
should use apt to get it.

I wouldn't call myself a programmer by any stretch of the imagination
but this seems like a very simple way to add functionality and keep to
the (in my view) highly regarded Ubuntu credo...
