/Some/ people are starting to get sick of it. I am still completely
interested and learning (some small amount of) stuff.
I have yet to see compelling reasoning for either view although I do
like to get system mail. It has helped a lot in some cases of b0rken
installations.
Yes, you can apt-get an MTA but, if the system is so configured to send
system mail, why would anyone /not/ want that, especially GNUbies who
need to learn?

I would be most interested in seeing the reasoning that Ubuntu has used
to arrive at their decision.

Q: What's the difference between MicroSoft Windows and a virus?
A: Apart from the fact that viruses are supported by their authors,
use optimized, small code and usually perform well, none.
