Log files are for figuring out what happened, not for alerts. Do
you read your log files every night to see if something important
happened?

Tim has established that cron is an important source of emails in
a virgin Ubuntu desktop. Tim never claimed that it was the only
source of important emails in a virgin Ubuntu desktop. There are
other valuable emails which the Breezy dumbdowngrade now loses.

For example, Ubuntu is better than many distros in that Ubuntu
automatically runs "mdadm -F". However, as of Breezy, the
resulting email alerts are lost to most users.
