Mapping Daemon is for nautilus' cd burning functions (and other
things, I believe)

The Gnome keyring daemon is for saved passwords, which includes
windows, ftp, ssh, wireless network keys, etc.  So, if the user uses
any of these services from within nautilus, or other gnome
applications it is required.
