no. I need the output file that contains the error,
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.
How do you move files? That is a good question and it depends on what
tools are available:
If you are dual booting: Intall the 'ext2' (http://www.fs-driver.org/)
filesystem driver into windows. Then use windows to mount the ext2
partation and paste it. paste the file.
If you have netorking up, you can upload it to your ISP's account in a
web folder, as I have. You can use sneaker net and copy it to a dos
formatted floppy/usb stick(my computer has no floppy).
If you have networking and multiple computers on the lan you can use
sftp (WINSCP for windows) and copy the file off the box (if you
installed ssh).
Let me know your setup situation and we'll get those logs off.
If you have an Ubuntu Live CD, you can boot with "live-expert", select
"VESA" for video when your are on the VIDEO section, mount the local
linux partition, then copy the VESA generated file from the LIVE onto
your installed linux partition.
Do you have networking up or a live cd, or windows on the same box?
I can also take a stab at it based on past experience:
look for these lines:
HorizSync 28-50
VertRefresh 43-75
You may nee to increase the range, for HSYNC & VSYNC, or your bus id is
not the following:
BusID "PCI:1:5:0"
Take a look at the "more /var/log/Xorg.0.log file". It says exeactly
why it is unhappy burried in all that output. I usually set
vertrefresh to 50-100, which may fix it.
