sudo problema

I wanted to change my hostname, so I edited:
/etc/hostname

... and update the name.
Then, when I rebooted, it gave me an error saying the hostname wasn't
correct.

I forgot to edit the /etc/hosts file to update the name in there are well !

Now, doing "sudo" tells me that it can't get the correct hostname
"gethostbyname() doesn't return the correct value".... and I have no way to
edit the /etc/hosts file, as I don't have permissions.

Any ideas ?
