I fail to see the problem. You don't use it for notifications that
need to be recognised, OR each app has a "flag" that's user settable
(oops beginning to sound like Linus now :-P ) for  the notifications
staying power for that particular app (a simple check box choice
should do the job I would have thought...)
Then again,I'm not a programmer and these so called "simple concepts"
may not be that simple to implement.
