OK so now I can build pine I have to ignore 3222 lines of stderr

Mostly say either, "pointer targets in passing argument" or
"incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function"
and a few"function is dangerous"

To more consistently explain what I did to people who know more than I
about it I chose to use an /root/bin script to retrieve and build
the latest pine. This way I can say what I did and in what order.

This was after Tobias Heinemann so kindly advised me to:
apt-get install build-essential
&
apt-get install libssl-dev
in a reply to my previous pine thread.

I did think it was a good time to start another thread though.

The previous was about: "can't build"

this is about: "is it safe to ignore so many error messages"

I would most welcome any input as to how safe these executables might
be? I mean is the worst that could happen be they might lock up a
terminal window or virtual console???

Wed Dec 14 15:27:45 EST 2005 The following links should be valid for at
least 30 days...
the text of my root script can currently be found at:

http://members.ttlc.net/~jtwdyp/TryBuildPine

I executed it with this command, (I pasted it to the root command line)...

/root/bin/TryBuildPine 2>/root/tmp/pineerr.txt |tee /root/tmp/pineout.txt

A copy of the stdout output can be found at:

http://members.ttlc.net/~jtwdyp/pineout.txt

A copy of the stderr output van be found at:

http://members.ttlc.net/~jtwdyp/pineerr.txt

And finally here is a directory listing of the resulting executables:

- -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1395894 Dec 14 11:35 ipop2d
