removable Media not mounted

ok now it is getting really strange.
I have on my computer 2 Ubutnu installed.
one "backup system"
one "every day use system"

the backup system have i not booted for some days. Today i booted it
did the update to the latested availble packages from Ubuntu and tried
it there.

it works. same computer, same home, same sources.list and fstab is the
same also, execpt the / line

  Installiert:0.9.5-0ubuntu5
  Mögliche Pakete:0.9.5-0ubuntu5
  Versions-Tabelle:

I´ve also tried the suggested update to pmount 0.9.6.1 but no change.

How do i find the difference between them? Where should i look?
