Hi Wade,
It is hard to say what was uninstalled from what you wrote. With most
distributions you can have separate packages for the mysql server
(needed usually in one place) and the mysql client (some people only
need the client). Do you use the Synaptec package manager? It has
made (un)installing software real simple for me. There is a search
funtion where you can see all the "mysql" packages at once.
