how to apply a patch/fix for a bug

do apt-get source evolution-data-server in the terminal
then do sudo apt-get build-dep evolution-data-server
you have to have the source repository enabled in Synaptic
cd to evolution-data-server-(version)
save the patch to file and then mv thepatchfile
debian/patches/category-fix.patch
then do sudo dpkg-buildpackage if that workes then do
sudo dpkg -i ../evolution-data-server-(something).deb
Also file a bug in bugzilla.ubuntu.com linking to the patch, so if will be
fixed.
