Syncing iPod with gtkpod

I am using gtkpod 0.88 and a 20 GB iPod photo.  When I try syncing to
add new songs to the iPod, it appears that songs are loading into the
iPod (e.g. spinning wheel on the iPod) but then I get a message that
there was an error opening iTunesDB in my home directory.  Why is gtkpod
looking for iTunesDB in my home directory rather than on the iPod?  Any
ideas how to get the songs loaded and recognized in the iPod?
