Question on mounting

[ken cubilo]

Hi audio cd's play fine and I can see that the dvd drive is being detected. 
It just seems that linux won't play a movie. I am starting to think this 
might be a legal thing

Are you able to access data CDs from the nautilus file manager?  Is
totem the only application that has trouble?  What is you place a music
CD in the drive?
