I'd strongly recommend starting with

technical information about this kind of problem.

After applying the information there, you *may* find you have slow or
jerky DVD playback.  This will probably be to do with DMA (Direct Memory
Access) not being active for your DVD drive.  It is easy to fix - I
can't remember where the information is for now...
