FAT32 RW problems

Just to double check:
1. This drive is internal right?(Obviously cos of the hdX naming)
2. Until yesterday you were able to write to it. So what did you do
yesterday? Did you install any patches of sort or did you change the
fstab file or something?
3. Can you write to partition as root?
May be you should try simpler mount options. Try:
mount -t vfat -o defaults,user,suid,umask=000 /dev/hdb1 /media/hdb1
