Migrating From SuSE to (K)Ubuntu

It doesn't help that SUSE uses a non-standard setup for KDE or GNOME (at
least that was my experience when I last looked at SUSE 10.0). The
menus have little in common with freedesktop.org standards (um er
suggestions). On the other hand, Ubuntu appears to follow them. There's
a big migration problem right there.
I'd go with the backup idea another respondant mentioned here and see
what happens. I'd forget about salvaging any old menu items though.
About the only things that are likely usable later on are some (or mybe
all) of the the font, mail, web browser, and theme directories and thier
contents (and similar subdirectories of .kde). At least that's what
I've found attempting this type of thing.
