Philips webcam

Hi,
I just got a Philips PCVC740K webcam for a project in school, but I 
can't seem to get it to work.
I plugged it in and I get the following from dmesg:

[13464.654999] usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and 
address 3
[13464.939389] pwc Philips PCVC740K (ToUCam Pro)/PCVC840 (ToUCam II) USB 
webcam detected.
[13465.341852] pwc Registered as /dev/video0.

This seems good. As root I start gnomemeeting (to test) and it finds the 
camera when using v4l. All seems good except all I get is a flat gray image.

Does anybody know how to get this webcam to work? It should have very 
good linux support so I thought it would just work(tm).
