Well... partly true... rather. I my definition of an IDE implies that
tools such as debuggers and compilers can be accessed through the
IDE's menu which creates a user friendly development environment. So
yes gdb is an independent program, however it can be controlled by
commands through a Vim plugin for example, this was discussed earlier
in the thread.
